The workshop uses flowcharts to tackle everyday problems presented in class, helping students learn programming logic and understand how robotics can provide solutions. They then progress to building their robots step by step, learning to explore sensor and effector functions and programming their robots to process information, experiment, and tackle various challenges.
Curiosity Machine
With Curiosity Machine, students explore mechanical and civil engineering as they engage in hands-on design challenges that provide practical experience. As they build their projects, students gain a deeper understanding of not just how things work but why they operate in a particular manner. This workshop encourages students to thrive through curiosity, creativity, and perseverance.
Makey Makey
In this workshop, students will explore Makey Makey, an electronic tool that connects everyday objects to computer programs. Using a circuit board, alligator clips, and a USB cable, Makey Makey converts objects into keyboard strokes or mouse clicks, enabling interaction with any program or webpage. Students will enhance their creativity by designing projects that control computer content using everyday objects instead of traditional keyboards and mice.
Chemistry Lab
In the Chemistry Lab workshop, students discover STAM chemistry experiments, labs, kits, and more. Our innovative, fun experiments use easily accessible materials, perfect for conducting at home, in the classroom, at camp, or for a science fair project.
Game Design
In this workshop, students will learn the principles of game design, which are increasingly applied across various industries due to the rise of gamification. By studying game design concepts, students develop skills that are applicable across a broad range of STEM fields, including entertainment software.
Science Discovery
The Science Discovery workshop engages students through hands-on experiments and investigations that explore scientific phenomena and principles, fostering curiosity and project-based learning. Students grasp basic scientific concepts, terms, and methods through engaging activities in fields such as geology, biology, agriculture, astronomy, and forensics.
Computer Science Unplugged
This workshop consists of a set of twenty activities designed to teach computer science through interactive games and puzzles using simple materials like cards, string, and crayons. These activities introduce students to core computer science concepts without the distractions of technical details.
STEAM Exploration
Our STEAM Exploration Program provides students with an introductory, immersive experience to nurture their STEAM passion and explore one or more specialties. By the end of the course, participants will have a comprehensive introduction to the requirements in knowledge, skill, and effort needed to pursue either an entrepreneurial venture or an informal Makerspace project. A wide range of STEAM Exploration courses will be available at the STEAM Discovery Center.
